Premier Baird announces changes to NSW Ministry

The Premier, The Hon Mike Baird MP, has announced further changes to the NSW Ministry this morning, following the resignation of The Hon Mike Gallacher MLC. The changes to the NSW Cabinet include:

Premier Mike Baird announces his Ministry

The new Premier of New South Wales, Mike Baird, has today announced the composition of his first Ministry.

Mr Baird, the new Deputy Liberal Leader, Gladys Berejiklian, the Deputy Premier and Leader of The Nationals, Andrew Stoner, and the Deputy Leader of The Nationals, Adrian Piccoli, were sworn in by the Governor of New South Wales, Professor Marie Bashir, last Thursday.

Barry O'Farrell to resign as Premier

Barry O’Farrell has this morning announced his intention to resign as Premier of New South Wales.

Mr O’Farrell’s announcement follows testimony he gave yesterday to the Independent Commission Against Corruption inquiry into Australian Water Holdings.

Mr O’Farrell indicated that a meeting of the Parliamentary Liberal Party would be convened next week at which a new leader would elected, and would become the 44th Premier of New South Wales.… Read more »

Mike Baird to become NSW Premier

Mike Baird has been elected NSW Liberal Leader at a meeting of the Parliamentary Liberal Party this afternoon.

As a result, Mr Baird will become the 44th Premier of New South Wales. His election follows the announcement by Barry O’Farrell yesterday of his intention to resign.

Gladys Berejiklian has been elected Deputy Liberal Leader.

South Australian and Tasmanian Elections

Tomorrow, general elections will take place in South Australia and Tasmania.

Premier appoints a new Parliamentary Secretary

Premier Barry O’Farrell has announced the appointment of Daryl Maguire MP to be his new Parliamentary Secretary.

Mr Maguire has represented the District of Wagga in the Legislative Assembly since 1999.  He was appointed Opposition Whip in 2003 and has served as the Government Whip since the election of the Liberals & Nationals Government in 2011.

The Premier has announced that the Hon. Anthony Roberts MP will become the Minister for Energy and Resources, Special Minister of State and Stuart Ayres MP will be sworn in as the Minister for Fair Trading and Assistant Minister for Western Sydney.
