QUICK REFORM PROGRESS OVERVIEW

REFORM + PRECINCT TRACKER

Minister Jackson is an active member of Chris Minns’ cabinet across several portfolios, which in addition to Housing include the Water, Homelessness, Mental Health, Youth and North Coast ministries. She was first appointed to the Legislative Council in 2019.

Jackson attended the University of Sydney with Transport Minister Jo Haylen and was active in student politics, especially in campaigns on women’s issues and sexism. She later worked as an official with the left-wing United Voice (now the United Workers’ Union) for four years, including as National Political Co-ordinator. She has held several party positions, including work as a Labor campaign organiser and Secretary of Labor Left from 2010 to 2016.

Since taking on the Housing portfolio, Jackson has been especially vocal about the need for medium- and high-density housing in Sydney – particularly social housing – to be built equitably across the city.

Jackson is also one of the most-followed representatives in the NSW parliament on social media. Her TikTok following of approximately 27,000 and Facebook following of 28,000 reflect her broad public audience, which includes a large number of young people.
